Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. says that Jerry Stokes, president of Suntech Europe, has been elected a director and vice president of the European Photovoltaic Industry Association's (EPIA) eight-member board of directors.

Dr. Winfried Hoffmann, a member of the supervisory board of SMA Solar Technology AG, was appointed the new president of the EPIA. The elections were held recently at the EPIA's Annual General Meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

Stokes has been actively involved in the solar PV, fuel cells and energy conversion, distribution and storage industries in Europe for more than 20 years. He joined Suntech in 2006 and, as president of Suntech Europe, is responsible for Suntech's growth strategy and development in Europe.
