U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers Seeking Local Renewable Energy

| The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, through its Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, Ala., has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for $7 billion in total contract capacity to procure locally generated renewable energy through power purchase agreements. The $7 billion capacity would be expended for the purchase of energy over a period of up to 30 years. The power would be purchased from renewable energy plants that are constructed and operated by contractors using private-sector financing. The contracts are expected to help the U.S. Army meet its goal of 1 GW of renewable energy by 2025, says Secretary of the Army John M. McHugh. The solicitation is available here.
