Solar Financing Incentives Brewing In Berkeley

According to Berkeley (Calif.) Daily Planet writer Judith Scherr, Berkeley’s city council, mayor’s office and other parties are proposing a financial project that would help homeowners and small businesses fund solar power and solar hot water systems.

Currently, there are nearly 400 sites in the city with solar panels, Scherr reports. The project, focused around a “Sustainable Energy Financing District,” could help add another 125 energy-efficient and/or solar sites with estimated construction costs at $4.4 million.

The Daily Planet also reports that a finalized plan will be presented to the city council next year.
