Elecnor, a Spain-based provider of engineering, construction and development, has acquired Belco Electric Inc., a California-based commercial electrical contractor.

Glenn De Soto has been named executive vice president of the new company and is responsible for the company's strategic direction and day-to-day operations.

Elecnor has operations in more than 20 countries and employs 10,000 people worldwide. In addition to Belco, Elecnor has operations in Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. Elecnor's team in Los Angeles is focused on utility-scale solar development and construction. In Portland, Elecnor's wholly owned subsidiary, Enerfin Energy Inc., focuses on wind development and management.
